Salora Luxus, 1960-61

Salora introduced five black-and-white television models into the market in 1960. In Salora Boston II and Luxus televisions they started using Sylvania’s 23-tube picture tube that didn’t need separate protecting glass in case of picture tube explosions. This new picture tube was “a bulging-eyed tube”. It got its name from the way the picture tube protruded past the edges of the television’s casing. Salora Luxus television also had UHF possibility. Salora manufactured the model for less than three months, from mid-December 1960 to the end of February in 1961. In production the serial numbers 117 001 – 118 000 had been reserved for the televisions.
